Doctors

Brett T. Sharman, DVM

Doctor

Dr. Brett Sharman graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and soon after relocated to Washington State. He began his career in a private veterinary practice in Southwest Washington before purchasing Woodland Veterinary Hospital in May 2002.

Since then, Dr. Sharman has been instrumental in the hospital’s growth, expanding it from a single-doctor practice into the thriving multi-doctor hospital it is today. He also played a key role in designing and shaping the current hospital building, ensuring that patient care and comfort remain at the center of every detail.

With a true passion for surgery, Dr. Sharman is dedicated to improving his patients’ quality of life and longevity through advanced surgical care. His commitment to excellence continues to shape the level of medicine and service provided at Woodland Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Sharman lives locally with his wife, their three dogs, three cats, and a lively flock of chickens. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys working on his farm and tackling construction projects, as well as cooking and traveling.

Tiffany L. Makowski, DVM

Doctor

Joined the Woodland Veterinary Hospital team in 2020. She grew up in Eastern Michigan, dreaming of becoming a veterinarian while treating her stuffed animals! She graduated from Central Michigan University in December of 2010 with BS in Biomedical Sciences and University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2015. Following graduation, she moved to Maryland working at a mixed animal/ER practice for 5 years.  At this practice Dr. Makowski treated a range of species, as long as they didn’t have feathers or scales! The variety of species and their behaviors shaped her loving, gentle, bedside manner tailored to each patient. Her medical interests include: preventative care, breed advancing through responsible reproduction, pediatrics, soft tissue surgery, and neurology.

She was drawn to the beautiful Pacific Northwest by our abundance of outdoor activities and breathtaking beauty.  In her time away from the hospital she enjoys sharing her outdoor adventures with her much-loved shepherds, Knox and Kojac, no matter the weather.

Tovah Yenna, DVM

Doctor

Dr. Tovah Yenna joined Woodland Veterinary Hospital in 2025, bringing with her a lifelong dedication to veterinary medicine and a strong foundation built over many years in the field. Originally from Kingston, New York, she began her career in veterinary medicine in 1998 as a veterinary assistant, developing early the skills and passion that continue to guide her work today.

Dr. Yenna grew up in the Hudson Valley before moving to Washington while serving in the U.S. Navy. She pursued undergrad studies at Oregon State University and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2025. After earning her DVM, she pursued a small animal internship to further expand her clinical experience.

During her time working in a small animal clinic in central California, Dr. Yenna discovered her love for radiology—an interest that has grown into one of her primary passions. Her dedication and aptitude in the field have earned her notable recognition, including the George G. Ross Scholarship for Radiology and the North American Veterinary Anesthesia Society (NAVAS) Student Anesthesia Award. In addition to diagnostic imaging, her professional interests include theriogenology (reproductive medicine) and practicing within the spectrum of care to meet the diverse needs of both patients and clients.

One of the most rewarding parts of veterinary medicine for Dr. Yenna is seeing patients she has treated return home and thrive. Her deep connection with animals began in childhood; she has always felt understood and accepted by them, a bond that ultimately inspired her to pursue this career.

At home, Dr. Yenna, along with her husband and three children, raises and shows Alpine dairy goats, a rewarding family endeavor that reflects her lifelong commitment to animals.  Together they share a lively household of pets, including two Standard Poodles, a Corgi–terrier mix, and three cats.  Outside the hospital, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, reading, knitting, and playing the cello badly.

Over the years, she has held a variety of roles within the hospital, gaining the knowledge and experience that have shaped her into an accomplished leader and “team traffic controller.” In 2012, she transitioned into management responsibilities and, by 2015, officially became our Practice Manager.

With a tireless, team-first approach and her signature willingness to step in wherever needed, Mary plays a vital role in ensuring smooth hospital operations, excellent patient care, and outstanding client service.

Outside of work, Mary and her husband enjoy traveling, riding ATVs, and volunteering in their local community. She also spends time riding her horses and caring for her own four-legged family members—three paint horses and her big orange cat named Skidder.

Client Services Manager

With over 12 years of experience in veterinary medicine, she quickly grew into a leadership role, first as our Client Service Representative Team Lead and now as our Manager of Client Services. Her dedication, energy, and commitment to client care make her an invaluable part of our hospital’s success.

A true Pacific Northwesterner, Sarah enjoys everything our region has to offer. She is an avid sports fan—especially a lifelong, devoted Philadelphia Eagles supporter—and an enthusiastic soccer mom (go Timbers!). Outside of work, she and her husband keep busy with their five children and three cats. Her most recent rescue, Yuki, is known for keeping the family—and the veterinary team—on their toes with her adventurous spirit and frequent medical challenges.

Whether she’s with family, cheering on her favorite teams, hiking, or spending time with her cats, Sarah embraces life with enthusiasm and joy.

Client Service Representatives

Rozlyn

Client Service Representative

Rozlyn joined the Woodland Veterinary Hospital team in 2022, bringing with her a strong foundation in veterinary medicine that began in 2020. Outside of work, Rozlyn spends much of her time horseback riding, training, and showing her horses. She also enjoys participating in dog sports, camping, and tending to her orchid collection. In addition, Rozlyn is currently pursuing studies to become a certified equine massage therapist, further expanding her ability to support animal health and well-being.

Elise

Client Service Representative

Elise joined the Woodland Veterinary team in 2024 and is proud to be part of a practice that values strong client relationships and compassionate care. Originally from Vancouver, Washington, she has always had a deep connection to animals, which began through her involvement in 4-H and showing animals at a young age. That passion naturally led her into veterinary medicine, where she began her career in 2021.

At home, Elise shares her life with a lively crew of pets: Mabel, a six-year-old golden retriever; Kam, a four-year-old rottweiler; Bette a one-year-old Rottweiler, Goober, her 20-year-old cat; and Ruthie, a five-year-old cat.

One of Elise’s favorite aspects of her work is building relationships with clients who love their pets as much as veterinary professionals do. She finds joy in supporting pet owners while helping their animals receive the best care possible.

Outside of work, Elise enjoys photography, training and competing in various dog sports, showing and training llamas, and seeking out the best local coffee shops.

Courtney

Client Service Representative

Courtney finds the greatest joy in building lasting connections with both clients and their pets. She especially loves the moments when patients come in excited to see her. With a strong passion for client service, she is dedicated to creating fear-free experiences that help pets feel more comfortable during their visits, while also enjoying the technical side of veterinary medicine, particularly phlebotomy.

Outside of the hospital, Courtney likes to spend her time gardening, reading, and traveling.

Technicians

Paula

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Paula joined the Woodland Veterinary Hospital team in 2015, bringing with her decades of experience and a true passion for veterinary medicine. She began her career in 1989 and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2002. Since then, she has dedicated herself to patient care, team leadership, and ongoing education—all while maintaining her uplifting and compassionate approach.

Paula is exceptionally skilled in senior care, behavior, phlebotomy, and dentistry. As a Certified Veterinary Dental Technician, she has extensive expertise in small animal dentistry and takes great pride in helping patients maintain their health and comfort through proper oral care.

When she isn’t supporting her team or caring for patients, Paula volunteers with animal rescue organizations, networks with other veterinary professionals, and pursues continuing education. At home, she and her husband enjoy restoring and racing classic cars, competing in car shows, and tending to their growing flock of chickens—a new homesteading passion.

Her love for large breed dogs shines through in her time with her current companion, Judge, and in the memory of her beloved dog, Colt, whose spirit continues to inspire her passion and dedication to veterinary medicine.

Assistants

Jenn

Veterinary Assistant

Jenn joined Woodland Veterinary Hospital in 2024 and quickly became an essential part of our team. Much of her day is spent assisting in surgery, where her focus and skills help ensure the best outcomes for our patients. She also enjoys working alongside the doctors in exam rooms, where she values the opportunity to connect with clients and provide education about their pets’ care.

Originally from Vancouver, Washington, Jenn has always had a special connection with animals. She began her career in animal care in 2004 at a county animal shelter, an experience that inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine. One of her most meaningful career experiences was working in the veterinary teaching hospital within the Oregon Humane Society, where she spent seven years caring for a wide variety of patients and teaching valuable skills to fellow team members.

At home, Jenn cares for many pets, including three dogs, four cats, a ferret, freshwater shrimp, and freshwater fish. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys hiking, rockhounding, and spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of three children and adores her five grandchildren, with whom she loves making memories.

Sami

Veterinary Assistant

Sami grew up in Napavine, Washington, and has always had a deep passion for animals and their care. This love for helping pets and supporting the people who love them is what inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine in 2017.

At home, Sami is kept busy by her five four-legged companions: Apollo and Amara, her two lovable “couch hippos” (Pitbulls),  Birdie, her mischievous little “land shark” (Corgi) and her two kitties Rocky and Creed.

One of the most rewarding parts of her career so far has been seeing patients return for follow-up visits after emergency care, healthy and thriving. Those experiences remind her of the impact veterinary medicine can have on both pets and their families.

Outside of work, Sami enjoys an active lifestyle that includes riding dirt bikes, quads, and horses, kayaking and paddle boarding, snowboarding, and spending time with her family.

We are proud to have Sami on our team since 2024, where her dedication, compassion, and positive spirit help make every patient’s visit a little brighter.

Caitlyn

Veterinary Assistant

Caitlyn joined the Woodland Veterinary Hospital team in 2023 and brings both a strong work ethic and a lifelong passion for animals to her role. Originally from Ridgefield, Washington, she grew up immersed in farming and 4-H, where she spent 14 years participating in everything from market swine projects to baking competitions. Her deep involvement in 4-H—and the joy she found working with animals—ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Before joining the veterinary field, Caitlyn studied to become a diesel mechanic, but soon realized her true calling was caring for animals.  She is currently enrolled in a study program to pursue her goal of becoming a licensed as a Veterinary Technician. Today, she enjoys every opportunity to build meaningful connections with clients and their pets, as well as the close-knit, family-like bond she has developed with her coworkers.

At home, Caitlyn shares her life with two energetic German shorthaired pointers. Outside of work, she loves hunting, clam digging, dirt bike riding, and canning. She is also actively involved in dog sports and events such as DockDogs, barn hunts, and shed hunting.

Paige

Veterinary Assistant

Paige joined the Woodland Veterinary team in 2024 and brings both lifelong experience and a genuine passion for veterinary medicine to her role. Originally from Ridgefield, Washington, she grew up surrounded by the field from the time she was just one year old, with her career in veterinary medicine beginning in 2016. The early exposure inspired her to follow in their footsteps and fostered her love of animal care.

Paige has a special passion for dermatology and client education, helping pet owners understand their companions’ health and treatment. For her, veterinary medicine has always been both fulfilling and ever-changing, offering something new to learn every day.

One of her favorite aspects of working in veterinary medicine is being part of a pet’s life journey, from their very first visit through each stage as they grow. She also treasures the meaningful connections she’s made, including the unique experience of having a former client become the officiant at her wedding.

At home, Paige shares life with her three dogs—two golden retrievers, Brawley and Buckley, and a dachshund named Bonney.  Outside of work, she enjoys relaxing at the lake and taking much-loved naps.

Emily

Veterinary Assistant

Emily joined the Woodland Veterinary Hospital team in 2025, bringing with her over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine. She began her career in 2012, inspired by her father, who is also a veterinarian. Originally from Ridgefield in Clark County, Washington, Emily has always had a strong connection to animals and rural life.

At home, Emily shares her life with a lively crew of pets — three Cane Corsos named Diamond, Gator, and Predator, and two Sphynx cats, Regina and Pharoah.

With countless memorable experiences in the field, Emily finds it impossible to choose just one favorite moment in veterinary medicine. Her true passion lies in client education and being a supportive presence for pet owners as they navigate their pets’ health and well-being.

Born and raised in the country, Emily grew up riding horses and wrangling cows, experiences that helped shape her strong work ethic and lifelong love for animals. She was formerly a nationally qualified bikini athlete and continues to spend much of her free time in the gym, maintaining her love for fitness and wellness. She also enjoys expressing her creativity through fashion and makeup and spending quality time with her pets.

Mikayla

Veterinary Assistant

Mikayla joined the Woodland Veterinary team in 2024 and has been a valued part of the hospital’s care team ever since. Originally from Brush Prairie, Washington, she grew up on a farm where her love for animals and hands-on experience with livestock helped shape her passion for veterinary medicine. She still enjoys helping her parents with their cows and crop harvesting.

At home, Mikayla cares for a lively group of pets, including two blue heelers, a mini Australian shepherd, three cats, and four horses. Her favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is the special bond she gets to form with patients—especially when they realize she’s there to help them feel safe and cared for.

Outside of work, Mikayla enjoys riding horses and hiking, continuing her lifelong connection to the outdoors and animals.

Shayla

Veterinary Assistant

Shayla joined the Woodland Veterinary team in 2025 and has quickly become a valued member of the hospital’s support staff. Originally from Bothell, Washington, she has loved animals for as long as she can remember and always knew she wanted a career that allowed her to work closely with them. That passion and dedication made veterinary medicine a natural path for her.

At home, Shayla shares her life with a Belgian Malinois/Pitbull mix named Rufus, an American Staffordshire Terrier named Lucifer, and two cats, Cadillac and Wimbledon. Her favorite memories in veterinary medicine so far include watching puppies grow, seeing clients’ pets recover and thrive with medical care, and experiencing the compassion of her team when she lost her own childhood pet.

Outside of work, Shayla enjoys outdoor activities such as riding dirt bikes and quads. She is also branching out into volunteer work, helping animals at local shelters and rescues.

They are great with your animals. They treat them as their own! And always so clean. It doesn’t smell like all the other veterinarian clinics I have been in. Love them guys and gals!
