Online Pharmacy Policy

The entire team at Woodland Veterinary Hospital is fully committed to helping your pet enjoy a happier and healthier life. Veterinary medications dispensed in our veterinary clinic or from our online pharmacy come from a qualified team who can answer your questions and assure you that your animal companion has the proper drug, correct dosage and most importantly a safe product. A safe product meaning products that are purchased from the manufacturer and will have the manufacturer’s support, thus eliminating the risk of counterfeit products. When medications are involved, our primary goal is to ensure that you not only receive the proper medication but also any of the pertinent safety information as it pertains to your individual pet’s medical condition.

We offer a wide range of medications in our veterinary hospital. If we do not have a medication in-house, we can order the medication directly from our newly added online pharmacy, special order the medication, or provide you with a written prescription. There are also several compounding pharmacies (including a few that are local), that can provide your pet with flavored medications, special dosing sizes when necessary and even transdermal formulations. We make every effort to be sure to provide your animal companions with safe and effective pharmaceutical products.

Please allow at least 24 hours for any prescription refill requests. We will do our best to process all requests as quickly as possible.

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship

If your pet needs a medication or a prescription diet, the Washington State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners stipulates that there must be a valid veterinarian-patient-client relationship. This means that in order for us to be able to fill any prescriptions one of our veterinarians needs to have examined your animal within the past 12 months. Some medications require follow up appointments and/or lab work to be done within that 12 month period to help monitor the response and risks associated with the use of the medication.

Third Party Online Pharmacy Policy

If you choose to get your pet’s medications from a third party online pharmacy, we are happy to write a written prescription for you to pick up, just as your doctor supplies you with a written prescription. You may request to pick it up or ask for it to be mailed to your home address. We will not authorize fax requests from any third party online pharmacies. It is your responsibility to ensure that your prescription is sent, filled, labeled, shipped and used correctly. Please be aware that most online pharmacies require the original prescription be mailed to them. We advise that you to keep a copy for your records and ensure that you receive the correct medication with the correct dosing instructions.
